WELCOME TO A WORKSHOP WHERE YOU COME HOME TO YOUR BODY

If you spend most of your day seated and in your head, you likely feel disconnected from your body. You are not alone. While the pace and sedentary nature of our modern lifestyle may certainly demand mindfulness to navigate it skilfully, "body fulness" is rarely part of the conversation. However, current neuroscience research suggests that shifting the center of your intelligence from your mind to your body allows you to sense more, feel more alive, be more connected to yourself and others, and ultimately act more effectively in all realms of life. Join Angelina Allen for a session of physical exploration intended to connect you to your body, your creativity and the present moment. Drawing from dance, yoga and somatic practices we will develop spatial and body awareness, exercise creative decision making and tune into physical sensation to move out of thinking and into the now. With the theme of “Transitions” as our departure point, we will illuminate our relationship to change. Do you pivot with ease, shifting swiftly in new directions with a sense of curiosity and excitement? Or does the mere idea of change cause you to tense your jaw, neck and shoulders? By tuning into the body you will discover your own patterns of thinking, being, moving and relating. Expect to walk away with increased self awareness, flowing endorphins and a kinder relationship with your body.

ANGELINA HOLDS A DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY FROM STANFORD UNIVERSITY WITH A SPECIALIZATION IN HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT. SHE DANCED WITH ONE OF THE WORLD’S LEADING CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANIES, GÖTEBORGSOPERANS DANSKOMPANI, FOR NEARLY TWO DECADES. DURING THAT TIME SHE ALSO BECAME AN EMBODIMENT FACILITATOR AND A MOVEMENT COACH FOR ELITE ICE SKATERS. ANGELINA HAS BEEN PRACTICING YOGA FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS AND IS A CERTIFIED YOGA INSTRUCTOR.
